ASR has 2 parts in the system,
First is the ETS (Electronic traction support): this system is only active up to 80 km/h and it is the system that applies the rear brakes to control spin.
Since it applies brakes individually on each of the rear wheels it can slightly mimic an LSD, thus the reason a C36 leaves 2 black marks in a burnout.
The second part in the ASR is the electronic throttle control, simply it’s the system that lifts off the throttle when you have spin, this system can intervene at any speed even at 250km/h but the higher the speed the car is traveling the more the system will take to intervene and the more it will take for it to fully cut power. Ie system will be less sensitive and responsive at high speeds to ensure it doesn’t cause sudden jerks at high speed corners.
When the ASR in a C36 is turned off by the dash switch, ETS will remain active, and will intervene if slip occurs up to 80 Km/h after that speed the triangle will keep flicking if spin is sensed but ETS will not activate so as not to over heat the rear Pads.
